Rarus Bed & Breakfast is located in the back country 3/4 of a mile from Colorado's Continental Divide and is nestled beside pristine Chalk Creek. During your stay, you'll enjoy all the comforts of home and marvel at the natural beauty this remote location offers.
It can be reached in Summer/Fall via front wheel /4-wheel or pickup by forest service road. In the winter and spring the last 5 miles are only via snowmobile, cross-country skis, or snowshoes. Provisions and luggage are packed in and out once for your convenience.
The Rarus Bed & Breakfast is a family owned and operated Private Residence. It's a "Green Resort" located 10,800 feet high in the Rockies and far from major highways, crowded National Parks, and tourist traps. Our "Eco Friendly" resort means we are powered by solar energy and our hot water, in-floor heating and hot tub are heated by our "enviromentaly friendly" outside wood fired boiler fueled only by firewood provided by standing dead trees. The well water is sweet and clean! All the comforts of home, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly.
Reservations are accepted December through April (winter/spring) and June through October (summer/fall).At times, the high elevation allows us to remain open into May. (snow conditions permitting) e-mail for exact dates and availability.
The Cabin has a native granite fireplace, dining area, and well-stocked kitchen. Tobacco use restricted to outside use only
